The RFP Is Live: A Turning Point for the MLK Corridor Vision

Today marks a major step forward.

The Request for Proposals (RFP) for the MLK Corridor Planning Initiative is now officially live.

This RFP invites qualified planning and development firms to lead a comprehensive needs assessment and strategic planning process for transformational investment along the MLK Corridor. The initiative is supported by a $1 million State of Connecticut planning grant under the Urban Act framework.

This is not just a planning exercise.

It is the foundation for long-term, community-rooted development.

What This Planning Phase Will Address

The selected firm (or team) will help design a clear, construction-ready roadmap centered on three key pillars:

  • Affordable Housing & Pathways to Homeownership

  • Youth & Educational Innovation Center Development

  • Economic Development & Job Creation

The goal is to translate lived experience, community insight, and long-standing local work into strategic plans, feasibility analysis, renderings, and phased implementation strategies that position the corridor for long-term investment.

Why This Matters

Planning is where integrity is set.

This phase will define not just what gets built, but how it gets built — and who it ultimately serves.

The MLK Corridor vision is rooted in real community engagement, youth development work, and years of on-the-ground service. Now, with the RFP live, we move from vision to structure.

From concept to coordination.

From conversation to execution.

For Interested Firms

We are seeking experienced professionals with strong backgrounds in:

  • Community-centered development

  • Urban planning and mixed-use design

  • Public funding alignment

  • Strategic economic development

  • Cultural competency and authentic engagement

Full RFP details, submission requirements, and deadlines are available through the official public notice and listed contact channels. And here www.ctmlkl.org

What Comes Next

Once a planning team is selected, the work begins immediately.

This process will produce the documents, renderings, financial modeling, and phased development strategy necessary to unlock future implementation funding and construction.

This is a disciplined step.

A strategic step.

A necessary step.

The RFP is now live.

Now we build.
